The Salt Department

Salts and seasonings made with the freshest ingredients and finest English sea salt flakes. Everything is scrubbed, zested, juiced, grated and blended by hand.  Infused salts and rubs are slowly dried (often for days) in order to enhance the flavours and naturally lengthen shelf life with no need for added nasties.  Salt has been used as a preserver for millennia, we have simply forgotten how magical it is. With just a sprinkling or two of my flavoured salts, you can create delicious aromatic dishes. Make divine rubs for meat fish and veg, or just use to finish the perfect pasta.

Sprinkle it on, rub it in, or scatter it over ...

in fact ... Use them wherever you would use salt!

WHO WE ARE

How It All Began

I started The Salt Department in 2017 when I was 11 years old. I started out making flavoured salts for my mum who is a chef and a teacher. She thought they were amazing (but she is a teensy bit biased).  I made some as gifts for friends and family ... but they wanted more! My mum now helps me sell them online here, at Brooks Foodstore in Kensal Rise and at Markets in North London. My little sister is in charge of labelling and new flavours!

If we are out of stock of something and/or you would like to put in a large or custom order please get in touch and we will do our best to make it happen! We can always make batches and combinations to order!  You might also spot a few things my mum makes - her maramalade is pretty good, and her honeycomb with my chilli salt is addictive!
